Optative Sentences

Such sentences which modify ''Feelings'' mainly ''Wish'' or ''Desire'' of the subject is called the optative sentence.

NOTE

These sentences always start with helping verbs ''Would that'' and to be verb ''Were'' is followed by all subjects.

1. Would that I were a doctor!

2. Would that you were a judge!

NOTE

Remember the following examples when you change explanatory and desirable sentences into assertive sentences.

1. How dear life is!

1. Life is very dear.

2. What beautiful that bird is!

2. That is a very beautiful bird.

3. What a fool your friend is!

3. Your friend is a great fool. 

NOTE

If explanatory sentences start with interjection. Interjection words are not used in the sentences.

EXAMPLES

1. Alas! His father met an accident yesterday.

1. His father met an accident.

2. Hurrah! We won the match 

2. We won the match

3. Bravo! You have done well.

3. You have done well.

EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE 

Such sentences which denote, sorrow, Exclamation, happiness, blessing, or curse are called the Exclamatory sentences.

SORROW

Alas! His young brother died.

Alas! I did not know you.

EXCLAMATION 

How fool your friend is!

What clever your sister is!

HAPPINESS

Hurrah! My brother got first position.

Hurrah1 I solved y difficult problem.

BLESSING 

May God bless you long life!

May God bestow you a splendid son!

CURSE

May God blind you!

May God demise you soon!
